Ghana Largest FDI Recipient in West Africa
According to Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Ghana is now the largest recipient of foreign direct investment (FDI) in West Africa.
President Akufo-Addo told a meeting of business executives that the achievement was a result of the prudent macroeconomic management of his government during the past two years. He also noted that economic growth had increased from 3.4% in 2016 to 8.1% in 2017 and continues to rise.
The meeting of the Chief Executive Officers of the Ghana Club 100 companies was convened to discuss ways to improve the business climate in Ghana, as well as how to boost the competitiveness of Ghanaian companies globally.
Other positive trends referenced by the President include a decrease in the debt to GDP ratio from 56.6% to 54.8% between 2016 and 2018, as well as a fall in inflation from 15.4% in 2016 to 9.5% in April 2019.
