Ivory Coast, Ghana Seek Higher Cocoa Prices
Cocoa producers in Ivory Coast and Ghana are pushing for higher prices. The two countries account for around 60% of cocoa production globally.
Bloomberg has reported that they have halted sales from the harvest due in October 2020 pending an agreement with buyers on a minimum price.
Producers in the two countries are asking for a price of $2,600 per tonne. According to the chief executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board Joseph Boahen Aidoo an agreement has been made in principle.
